Bill Cosby admits using drugs to take advantage of women

The New York Times has published highlights from the transcript of a deposition of Bill Cosby that took place in 2005 and 2006. During the intense questioning which took place at a Philadelphia hotel, Cosby presented himself as an unapologetic, cavalier playboy who used his fame and wealth to take advantage of women. The deposition was held as part of a lawsuit filed by Andrea Constand, who accused the comedian of drugging and sexually assaulting her. The parties have been prohibited from releasing the memorandum because of a confidentiality clause that was part of the settlement agreement, but the deposition itself was never sealed.

The deposition revealed:

-That Cosby admitted he had procured a type of sedative called Quaaludes, with the intent of giving them to women he was planning to have sex with. He also admitted to giving Andrea Constand one-and-a-half tablets of Benadryl.
- That Cosby as cultivated relationships with young women by acting as a mentor figure to them, spending time with them, and taking on a larger and larger role in their lives before pushing them for sex acts.
- That Cosby admitted to paying a woman to keep quiet about their affair through the talent agency that represented him.

Constand's lawyer had asked the court to release the 10,000-page deposition transcript to the public.
