Hope for the blind....smart glasses that allow the blind to see could be on sale by 2016!

Smart glasses that could transform the lives of blind and partially-sighted people could be in the shops by 2016.

The revolutionary technology which is a joint project between the University of Oxford and the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB)
enables blind people to see obstacles and faces, similar to the fictional high-tech visor worn by Geordi La Forge in TV's Star Trek.

The smart glasses consist of a video camera, a computer processing unit that is small enough to fit in a pocket and software that provides images of objects close by to the see-through displays in the eyepieces of the glasses.

About a dozen men were ambushed and forced to undergo circumcisions in western Kenya as part of a 'ceremony', according to reports.

The 12 men were subjected to the procedure after their wives revealed they had not had it done previously. One of the wives, Anne Njeri, who witnessed the incident on Friday, told the West fm radio station: 'We are happy with the move to have such men cut because uncircumcised men are dirty and do not perform well in bed and thus we are sure their wives will now enjoy their marriages.'

The men who carried out the procedure have said all the men who have not been circumcised will undergo the procedure in what has been dubbed 'circumcision season', according to the Kenyan Daily Post

The season is said to last for the first three weeks of August, the International Business Times has reported.

About 50 men have now reportedly asked police for help to protect them from the forced procedure.

Video/Photos: London Student invents a machine which allows the wearer to “step into the body of another person”!

This is not science fiction in as much as it sounds like one! A London student has created a machine which attempts to create a realistic “body swap” by allowing the wearer to “step into the body of another person”.

The Pretender Project was invented by Yifei Chai as part of his studies at Imperial College London, using a combination of some off-the-shelf electronic devices together with some custom software.
Whose hand can I see? (Image: Yifei Chai)

A Microsoft Kinect device is used to observe the controller’s movements, and this data is then used to send electric shocks of between 40 and 80 volts to 34 different muscles to force the person to mimic that movement: when the controller brings his or her hand up to their eyes, the person being controlled is forced to do the same, and an image of that view is projected to the controller’s eyes.

Because users are able to step into someone else's bodies, they can experience first hand, real social interactions, and have the opportunity to behave under another character without physical restrictions......Weird!
